2009 Baseball Youth Road Trip FANFEST - CENTRAL TOUR Galleries

May 23, 2009 - Cincinnati Patriots 21 Gun Salute Tournament - Cincinnati, Ohio : The 2009 Baseball Youth Road Trip kicked off its tour in Milford, Ohio and set the bar high for the rest of the tour. We stopped in at the Cincinnati Patriots 21 Gun Salute Tournament at Tealtown Park and had an exciting day. With over 80 teams the action never stopped and we were able to hand out tons of cool stuff to the players and fans. Kids got tons of packs of Upper Deck and Topps baseball cards and players even got to test out our new line of Louisville Slugger bats. One kid even hit his first home run with our 2010 Triton! We want to congratulate Jacob for being the first person to get a pack of cards on our 2009 Road Trip.

We asked Jacob what he thought about the Road Trip and here is what he had to say. “This tour is pretty cool because everyone gets to do tons of fun stuff. I got to see all the major league hats, play with Louisville Slugger gear, and try out Little League World Series on the Nintendo Wii.”

This tournament was over the top. In honor of Memorial Day, War Veterans all threw out ceremonial first pitches. Then, later in the day, there was a real 21 gun salute. And if that wasn’t enough, there was even a flyover with 4 planes. IT WAS AWESOME!!! With all this amazing stuff going on at the tournament it’s no wonder that there were news channels filming the action. I even got the chance to get a live interview with the local news.

The city of Cincinnati was a cool place to visit. We got to go to the Reds game at Great American Ballpark. The game was close but the Reds ended up pulling out a win. We were treated to a fireworks display leaving the stadium.

We head to Morehead, KY tomorrow for another stop on the tour. Keep checking out baseballyouth.com to follow our progress.

May 24, 2009 - Cave Run Muskies Memorial Tournament - Morehead, Kentucky : We are now about 400 miles into our trip and our second stop on the Central Tour brought us to Don Greenhill Park in Morehead, Kentucky. We set up at the Cave Run Muskies Memorial Tournament and had another day of fun. Rain was in the forecast but we got lucky and had a full day of sunshine.

The kids had a great time, and got tons of cool stuff from all our sponsors. The Disney XD and MLBPA stations seemed to be favorites today as kids enjoyed the baseball pitch game and the spinning wheel game. The Louisville Slugger booth continued to be popular as well, and lots of bats were rented for players to try. We have a few days off before our next tournament at the Dream Park on Wednesday night.

Morehead is a pretty small town but we are still finding fun stuff to do. Since we have a few days before our next stop, the crew is going to go check out Cave Run Lake and do some swimming. We will also pass the time by playing some Nintendo Wii in our hotel room.

We will do one more tour stop at the Dream Park in Morehead, KY before heading south to Knoxville, Tennessee. Keep following us at baseballyouth.com to see where we’ll be.

May 30, 2009 - 10th Annual Smoky Mountain Classic - Knoxville, Tennessee : The Central crew rolled in to Knoxville, TN for the action packed Smoky Mountain Classic. The crowd at the Knox County Sportspark was so amazing on Friday night that we decided it was only fitting to get right back out there first thing Saturday morning. Louisville Slugger bats were flying off the racks as anxious players were looking to get the new 2010 line in their finger tips. Spencer had so much success swinging the H2 Hybrid on Friday night that he and his dad were lined up first thing on Saturday to rent it for his second round games.

The kids that didn’t hit homeruns on the field definitely made up for it at the Little League World Series tents. We had a derby running all day and everyone was getting in on the action. We gave out some cool Baseball Youth gear to Chris since he took home the derby crown.

The Topps Attax booth really started heating up this weekend. Cameron took down everyone in his path including myself. We hooked him up with a 20 card starter pack of Topps Attax as a reward for his domination. He said he couldn’t wait to take it home and start a new collection.

The bold colors of the New Era hats continued to draw people’s attention. No one could walk by the tent without taking a look at their favorite team’s lid. We also used the hats for a fun baseball trivia game.
Since we had some spare time in Knoxville, we drove by the University of Tennessee’s football stadium. That thing was huge. It wasn’t as nice as the University of Georgia’s (my old college!!!!) but the crew still thought it was pretty cool to look at.

We have to go now and hit the road for another tournament in La Vergne, TN tomorrow. Check back at baseballyouth.com in a few days to read about our next stop.

May 31, 2009 - 2nd Annual SYSA/USSSA Summer Jam - Lavergne, Tennessee : The Central Crew left Knoxville and made the quick drive to La Vergne, TN for the 2nd Annual SYSA/USSSA Summer Jam. It was a hot afternoon, but the action at the Topps Attax tent was hotter. Topps Attax matches were going on all day, and even the crew got in on it. In the end, Phillip proved to be the top player and took home the 20 card starter pack of cards.

The Little League World Series tents were slammed all afternoon as well. Moms, dads, brothers, and sisters all stopped in to join in on the fun. We also handed out TONS of Topps and Upper Deck cards. Our gigantic bucket had to be refilled because we were so busy handing out cards.
Thomas was the winner of the New Era Baseball Cap Trivia Challenge and we hooked him up with a junkball set. At the Disney booth, Jake set a new tour record by throwing 10 consecutive balls through the Disney XD sign. I’m not sure that record will be broken the rest of the tour!!!

We also rented out more bats at this tourney than ever before. Tritons, H2’s, and Dynasty’s were being used at every field. The Summer Jam was really a great event for the Central Crew to stop in on.
Since we had a few days off before our next stop we decided to spend a few nights in Nashville, TN. Everyone had a great time in this really fun city. We saw the NFL’s Tennessee Titans football stadium, the Grand Ole Opry, and tons of country music places.

We head to St. Louis tomorrow so come back soon to baseballyouth.com and see what the Central Crew has in store next.

June 5, 2009 - USSSA State June Jam - St. Louis, Missouri : The Central Crew was well rested after a few days off and eager to get back to the ball fields. We loaded our trailer up and headed back to work for the USSSA June Jam.

The weather was perfect, with an 80 degree temperature on a slightly cloudy day. Kids of all ages came out to experience the Baseball Youth Roadtrip Fanfest. All tents were slammed, with kids taking to the Disney XD tent. Everyone wanted thunderstix, as it was the hot commodity of the tournament. Central Crew member Steve created the Disney Dizzy Bat game, which added to the excitement. Lindsey won the inaugural game, and received a Disney XD hat. She was STOKED!!!

In our off time we got to experience all that St. Louis had to offer. We were lucky enough to go to two Cardinals games against the Cincinnati Reds. We met some nice guys at our hotel that even hooked us up with two free tickets! We saw Albert Pujols blast a 415 foot homerun to straight away centerfield. The Cardinals won both games we went to, and since three guys on our crew are huge Reds fans, they left upset. They couldn’t stay mad too long though, because the huge Arch in downtown St. Louis is cool enough to cheer anyone up. A couple of us took an elevator 630 feet to the top of the Arch, while the other two were to scared of heights to come with us.

We’ve had so much fun in St. Louis that we plan on coming back later in the summer. We are off to Illinois for two more stops this weekend so check back to baseballyouth.com to hear more about our road trip.

June 6, 2009 - 3rd Annual Illinois Classic - Bethalto, Illinois : The Central Crew made their way to Bethalto, Illinois for the next stop on our summer road trip. We experienced our first taste of the Illinois wind, but it didn’t keep any of the young baseball players away from the field or the baseball youth tents. As the wind settled down, the excitement stayed high for all the cool Topps and Upper Deck baseball cards, thunderstix, posters, and stickers. Every tent was jammed packed. We couldn’t rent out the Louisville slugger bats fast enough so we sent a second crew member over to the Louisville Slugger tents to help move the line along. The highlight of the tournament was the Topps Attax battles that were taking place all afternoon. We have to admit that the kids won a lot more games than the tour members. John Michael won 8 straight games of Topps Attax and was the MVP of the day. You could look around at all the bleachers and notice a sea of green from all the thunderstix that parents and fans were using to cheer on their favorite players.

Every time the tour members turned around we had to fill up our buckets of Topps and Upper Deck cards. The parents seemed to be just as excited for their kids to get the baseball cards as the kids.
Even though we were in Illinois, people all seemed to stop and look at the St. Louis Cardinals hat at our New Era Cap booth. Bethalto, Illinois is a town just outside of St. Louis and we soon found out that many Cardinal fans don’t really like the Cubs or White Sox! They sure do take their baseball seriously.

Keep checking out baseballyouth.com to hear about our upcoming adventures.

June 7, 2009 - Summer Slam - O'Fallon, Illinois : The Central Crew finished up their second Illinois tour stop, this time only a short distance from yesterdays. We dropped in on the action at the Summer Slam in O’Fallon, IL. We started setting up all our tents first thing in the morning to crystal clear skies. Once the finishing touches were put on all of our booths, the crowds started pouring in to spin the wheel at our MLBPA booth. Jackie was the first to land on the MLB logo and we rewarded her with the 25 Upper Deck and Topps pack bonus. Her hands were so full of cards that she was leaving a trail behind her as she excitedly went to show off to her big brother!

The weather started turning on us in the early afternoon and the crew was not sure if the noise they were hearing was thunder in the sky or if it was the sound of baseballs flying of all the 2010 Louisville Slugger bats we had rented out. After a little more investigation we decided it was a combination of both. We had to tell the loads of kids playing Little League World Series that we had to pack up a little early to make sure none of our equipment got too wet.

We once again souped up the Disney XD challenge by having the long distance throwing contest. After three rounds there were only two players left. Darius ended up winning in sudden death overtime and was ecstatic to take home a new Disney XD shirt.

We have a few days to get to our next stop in Kansas City. Keep checking back to baseballyouth.com to see our progress.

June 12, 2009 - Nill Bros. Louisville Slugger Classic - Kansas City, Kansas : The Central Crew was lucky enough to stop in on the Nill Bros. Louisville Slugger Classic for their 106 team tournament. The complex was great and the fans were greater as we gave out many buckets of Topps and Upper Deck baseball cards. The lines were long both days with kids waiting for their chance to find their favorite Kansas City Royals players. The older kids were swinging wood bats at the tournament, but that did not prevent the young ball players from testing out the new 2010 Slugger bats. Lots of players had so much success on Friday night that they came back out first thing Saturday morning for another chance to try them out.

The Little League World Series tents were at maximum capacity too!!! We had kids playing tournaments, a family feud where a father defeated his son, and a team battle where the Sharks beat the Pride. Everyone was having a blast.

Kids were trying all day long to win a New Era 5950 hat, but crew member Jeremy’s bonus round questions were too difficult for anyone to walk away with a lid. Maybe next time!!

We gave away lots of Topps Attax cards to tournament winners over the weekend. Jason even won so many games we gave him two 20 card starter packs.

Because kids were having so much fun with it at our last tournament, we decided to play Dizzy Disney again. Max was the winner and we hooked him up with a handful of thundersticks and a Disney XD shirt.
We are heading to a Kansas City Royals game tonight but will be back on the road tomorrow for our next tournament in Texas. Keep checking baseballyouth.com for updates.

June 20, 2009 - USSSA World Series - Cedar Hill, Texas : The Central Crew got to spend the weekend in Cedar Hill, Texas at Valley Ridge Park. The complex was brand new and we were set up right in the heart of the action. We got to the park on Saturday and were very lucky to be set up during their opening ceremonies and skills competition. 2010 model Louisville Slugger bats were flying off the racks as parents were trying to give their child the best chance to win the Home Run Derby. It comes as no surprise that Jacob won the Derby using one of our Dynasty model bats. It seemed like everyone at the Home Run Derby was having an awesome time except for the owner of the BMW that was hit by Jacob’s long bomb!!! After the skills competition there was a Mardi Gras style parade at the amphitheatre and everyone was throwing out beads and candy. All the teams were introduced and were having fun walking across the stage.
The New Era Hat booth was once again a hot spot as kids were trying their best to win a New Era cap. The trivia games got heated but everyone that played loved it.
Right next store at the Little League World Series tent the action REALLY heated up. Kids got the chance to play the new 2009 LLWS game on the Wii’s and couldn’t get enough of the new features and gameplay. We had so much fun watching the real homerun derby that we decided to have another homerun derby LLWS style. Congratulations to Freddy for winning the LLWS Derby and walking away with a brand new game of his own.
We decided to go real crazy with the Disney XD booth and after letting all the kids throw we let the best players throw from real long distance. With pinpoint accuracy even from thirty feet away, Eduardo won the contest and a nice Disney XD shirt to go along with it.
Lots of kids were curious about how to play Topps Attax so the crew was busy both days helping out and teaching the game. We gave out lots of starter packs of cards for kids to take home and start their new collections.
Our Baseball Youth Player of the Year ballot boxes were overflowing with nominations. Their will be some fierce competition for this awesome award.
We will be in Texas for a few more weeks so keep checking back to baseballyouth.com for updates.

June 23, 2009 - Metro National Championship - Mansfield, Texas : The Central Crew made their way out to the Big League Dreams Park in Mansfield, TX for a great mid week event. The crew was VERY tempted to go to the water park right next to the field instead of setting up in the hot Texas heat. But, in the end, we decided to set up the Baseball Youth Roadtrip Fanfest and had an awesome day.
The Big League Dreams complex was unlike anything we’ve seen on the roadtrip. Each of their fields were replicas of actual stadiums. They had Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, The Ballpark at Arlington, and even the old Polo Fields. Kids were having a great time playing games at this unique complex, but were having even more fun at our booths! The Nintendo Wii’s were packed all day with people trying out the new Little League World Series 2009 games. We hooked a few of the kids up with the game for the Wii and DS and they couldn’t stop smiling.
We broke out a new game at the Disney booth where kids raced to blow up thundersticks and then run back to me and pop them. We gave Colton a new XD t-shirt for winning the race.
At the Topps Attax booth teammates battled each other to determine who the best player was. There was even some family competition as one player was defeated by his mom!!!
Posters, cards, pencils, stickers, and eyeblack were flying off the tables as kids lined up for their chance to win prizes. As crew member Matt kept shouting….. “You gotta spin it to win it!”
We had a great time at this tournament and have many more lined up in the next few months so keep coming back to baseballyouth.com and check for updates.

June 27, 2009 - Texas State Championships - Flower Mound, Texas : The Central Crew battled the heat and the crowd and had a great day at the Texas State Championship in Flower Mound, TX. There was so much talent at this tournament that we decided to pick out one lucky player to be featured on a baseball card in our next issue of Baseball Youth Magazine! Man was he excited to find out he was going to have a card right next to the pros.
Our giant buckets of Topps and Upper Deck baseball cards were getting mobbed by kids eager to find their favorite players. Over at the Little League World Series tents, kids were trying out 2009 LLWS and loving the new power ups and the sliding features. After Thomas won the round robin tournament, we gave a copy of the game to bring home with him. He jumped so high in excitement when he won that he almost hit his head on our tent! At Topps Attax the action was just as crazy. Ryan and Phillip were having such a good time with the game that they asked if they could play a full nine inning game. Of course we said yes and when they were finished we gave them some packs to take home with them and share with their friends.
The Louisville Slugger bats and gloves are still a fan favorite amongst the players looking for baseball gear built for performance. When kids find out they can try a free demo of a 2010 Slugger their face always lights up with excitement knowing they will have the best bat available in their hands. At the Disney booth everyone was having a blast. We started with a tournament for kids under 5 to play. Once we had a group of players we let them throw balls through the big D in Disney XD. Even though Tristan was just 4 years old, he never missed a throw and we gave him tons of XD stickers for his room. The New Era Hat booth drew lots of attention too. Everyone wanted to try on their favorite flat bill and feel like the pros.
We are off to Coppell, TX in the morning but will be posting more details at baseballyouth.com

June 28, 2009 - Texas Battle Slamfest - Coppell, Texas : The Central Crew is starting to get acclimated with the hot Texas sun, but we still felt the heat when we showed up to Wagon Wheel Park in Coppell, TX. Tons of parents saw our Player of the Year inflatable and nominated their kid to win the award on the MLB Network. Time will only tell if this years player of the year will come from the great state of Texas.
Over at the Topps Attax booth we had some true battles for bragging rights. Twin brothers Joseph and Jacob played each other numerous times. As they were leaving they were begging their mom to stop at the store so they could pick up a starter pack and game board.
Kids at the Disney booth were pumped up about Zeke and Luther. They saw the first few episodes and loved it and were happy to get stickers and postcards with Zeke and Luther on them.
We did a skills test at the LLWS game. Pitching, hitting, and running were all tested. Wendall ended up proving he was the best all around player and we rewarded him with a Nintendo DS game.
Over at New Era, everyone wanted a cool Baseball Youth Road Trip hat. We played some trivia games and let a few people go home happy with some new headwear as well. They felt like the Central Crew once they had on the tour staff hats!
The 2010 Slugger bats were a big hit (no pun intended) for all of the players. Kids couldn’t decide which one to use because they were all so awesome. We told them why not try out them all!!
We head to Austin, TX in the morning to get ready for some more baseball tournaments. Check back to baseballyouth.com for more info.

July 4, 2009 - Super Series National Championship - Round Rock, Texas : The Central Crew had a few days off to explore Austin, Texas, the state’s capital city. We checked out the University of Texas campus and the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. After a few days of fun we loaded up the trailer and headed a short ways north the Round Rock, Texas for the Super Series World Series. It was opening ceremonies day so kids and their parents were able to hang out with us at the fanfest all day long.
People of all ages were getting involved in our Tee through the “D” game where players got points for hitting wiffle balls through the big D of the Disney XD banner. Ultimately, age proved more skilled than youth, and a mom won the game and a t-shirt.
The New Era Booth once again drew lots of attention. We played a trivia game and think we had most of the Dodgers team vying to win a hat. Even some of the brothers of players got in on the action.
At the Little League World Series tents we had people of all ages checking out the new 2009 game. The coolest sight of all was watching one young boy take on his grandpa. It was funny to watch as the little guy was teaching grandpa how to use the Wii control.
The wind was blowing pretty hard but that did not prevent kids from testing out the Topps Attax games that we had set up for them. Jeffery stacked his team with all New York Yankees. Of course he won every game he played!
Our fanfest was located right next to the batting cages so kids were constantly taking the new 2010 Slugger bats into the cage and getting a feel for them. I feel bad for the maintenance crew who will probably have to replace the L screens in the cages from all the line drives being hit.
Since it is the 4th of July, the day wouldn’t be complete without seeing some fireworks. We made sure to see them because after all, everyone loves fireworks.

July 5, 2009 - AAYBA World Series - Flower Mound, Texas : The Central Crew has reached the halfway mark of the 2009 Baseball Youth Roadtrip Fanfest. We spent two days at the jam packed AAYBA World Series in Flower Mound, Texas. There were 370 teams at this event but the crew was ready for the rush. We rented out every 2010 model Louisville Slugger bat over the two day experience. Our nomination boxes at our player of the year tent were overflowing with new entries for kids vying to win the coveted award.
Kids were in baseball card heaven at our MLBPA booth. We literally handed out 5,000 packs of cards over the two days and kids needed to tighten their belts because their pockets were overflowing with cards. Pencils, buttons, stickers, and posters were flying off our tables as we kept kids smiling all afternoon long.
At the Little League World Series tents we decided to put together a one inning turbo tournament. The twelve man tournament winner, Lamar, won a Nintendo DS version of the game and was not afraid to rub it in to all his friends.
Lamar was not so lucky at the Topps Attax tent. He lost in the first round to his buddy Parker. Parker struck out Lamar three times and brought him back down to earth.
At Disney, we played line drive XD where kids tried to hit waffle balls through the big D on a banner. The game was free but all participants needed to have a Zeke and Luther postcard in hand to be eligible to play.
At New Era we once again had kids begging us to play the hat game. Although no one won the jackpot, we did hand out a few fanfest hats.
We make out way out of Texas after three weeks and head to Oklahoma. Check in to baseballyouth.com to see what kind of fun we get into next.

July 7, 2009 - NABF World Series - Del City, Oklahoma : The Central Crew spent a few days in Del City, Oklahoma and had an amazing time. The ball fields were minutes from an Air Force base, and although there was no formal flyover, fighter jets were always overhead making tons of noise. We couldn’t tell if the noise was coming from the airplanes or the thousands of thunderstix that were given out to fans. Everyone was having such a good time at the Disney booth that there was always a line to play games at the Disney goal.
Over at the MLBPA booth the lines were just as long as kids and parents all tried their luck at our wheel of fortune. We went through buckets of cards as our special helper Coleman kept calling out jackpots. He helped us so much we gave him the ultimate gift set- a shirt, hat, and video game, and all the packs of cards he could carry. Thanks Coleman!!!!
Our Topps Attax tent had tons kids throughout both days. We did a round robin tournament, and everyone was anxious to get their hands on a brand new pack. Tyler was the big winner, and took home 3 packs!!!
At New Era everyone wanted to try and find their favorite team. Kids were begging to play more games of pick the hat trivia and we happily obliged.
We head to Tulsa tomorrow so stay in touch at baseballyouth.com to see how that tournament goes.

July 9, 2009 - CABA National Championship Great Plains - Tulsa, Oklahoma : The Central Crew continued their way through the state of Oklahoma, and stopped in Tulsa for the CABA National Championship at Great Plains. Rain delayed the tournament start time to the afternoon, but couldn't delay the fun!!!! The Little League World Series tents never had an open seat!
After a home run derby contest on Nintendo Wii, Corey took home a brand new copy of LLWS 2009. The fun continued at the Disney toss, as Timmy used his precision accuracy to win the 20 foot toss. He was stoked to take home a brand new XD t-shirt! The ever popular New Era hat game continued to be a fan favorite as well. Blake put forth a valuant effort, and was only one right answer away from winning a brand new 5950 authentic MLB hat. He couldn't complain though, because he still took home a Baseball Youth Roadtrip hat. Even moms and grandmas wanted in on the fun at this tournament. Brooke and Milly had an intense battle in Topps Attax, but in the end Age defeated beauty with Milly pulling out the win with a specialty pitch by Johan Santana. The stop in Tulsa wouldn't have been a success with out the help of our volunteer worker Cameron. For her work, she received a Road Trip hat, 50 packs of cards, and thunderstix. We now will be heading toward St. Louis, the site of the upcoming 2009 All-Star game. Keep checking back to baseballyouth.com for more pictures and information.

July 11, 2009 - Play It Right Baseball Bash - Bridgeton, Missouri : The Central Crew made a quick stop in Bridgeton, Missouri for the Play It Right Baseball Bash. We set up right in the heart of the action and were packed from the second we started handing out prizes.
We played tons of games at the Disney XD booth. Kids were hitting wiffle balls into the big D in XD. We also did some Zeke and Luther Trivia. One little guy, Scott, knew all the answers. Since he was a Zeke and Luther expert we were happy to give him a Disney XD ball cap.
Over at Slugger, everyone wanted to check out the new top of the line performance gear. Bats were being compared, gloves were tried on, and catcher’s gear was tested. Everything at the Slugger booth seemed to exceed expectations.
Topps Attax was busy as well. Justin played lots of games online at toppstown.com and was collecting lots of serial number cards to improve his online roster.
The Little League World Series games were always being played and cheers and screams were not uncommon to be heard from underneath the bright yellow tents. Everyone loved the new sliding and powerup features.
At New Era, kids were begging for hats. We couldn’t give them the onfield 5950 lids, but we did do some different trivia games and handed out some fanfest merchandise.
We head to St. Louis in the morning and have the All Star game right around the corner. Stay in touch at baseballyouth.com and see our progress.

We did a home run derby challenge on the Nintendo Wii, and Blake was the big winner with 6 home runs taking home the 2009 LLWS game. The Louisville slugger bats treated the Dynamos team well, as Johnny hit 2 home runs and Nick went 4 for 5. July 15, 2009 - 10U Global World Series - Southaven, Mississippi : The Central Tour made it's way to Southaven Mississippi, for the 2 day USSSA World Series. The tournament took place at Snowden Grove Park, a state of the art 17 field facility. We arrived for the opening ceremonies, and the craziness ensued. Kids lined up to play Little League World Series before we had tables set up. The Louisville
Slugger booth had a long line as well since everyone was anxious to check out the new 2010 model TPX model bats. Once we got things rolling, the fun followed. The Disney XD booth was a hit, with everyone checking out the new Zeke and Luther show. The Topps Attack tent got a lot of traffic, and many kids now have a new favorite game.
Day 2 saw a lot of excitement as well, as many new games were created.
to spruce up the fun. The Disney Limbo Labamba became a new hit, and provided a
lot of laughs for everyone involved. Kevin was the big winner, clearing the unfathomable 28 inch mark!!! We know it was 28 inches because we used the Slugger bats as a guide. The games kept coming as we also played another new game, Conehead Jousting. Take a look at those pictures and you’ll know what I’m talking about.
Another newly created game was New Era plinko, where kids close their eyes and hold out a hat, while we throw a junk ball of the top of the tents and they try to catch it in the pocket of the hat. “City Boy” took home a brand new basketball for catching 2 balls! The last new game was hot ball, a version of hot potato. After an intense game with 10 kids involved, David was able to beat the competition. He brought home a brand new Junk ball and bat!
Keep following the Central Tour, as we head to Ringgold, Georgia for our next tournament.

July 18, 2009 - 7U Dizzy Dean World Series - Ringgold, Georgia : The Central Crew made it to Ringgold, Georgia for the 7U Dizzy Dean World Series. It was fun to be there since it was in my home state. I knew baseball was big in Georgia but I didn’t realize it was this big. The tournament had a water slide and moon walk. They also had an artist that did custom made air brush art. Crew member Derrick and I both got new head bands with our names spray painted on it.
Even with all this cool stuff going on around us, our tents were still the most popular spot at the tournament.
The MLBPA booth was absolutely crazy. The line was so long it looked like it went on for miles. I was afraid our prize wheel was going to break from all the spinning it did yesterday. It managed to stay in one piece, and we handed out thousands of packs of Topps and Upper Deck baseball cards.
At New Era, we came up with another new game. We took about 30 custom made Baseball Road Trip hats and set them out on the table. We had one special hat with the word “WINNER” written on the underside of the bill of the cap. Kids and parents got to select a hat that they thought was lucky. If they picked the “WINNER” we hooked them up with some cool road trip gear.
The Little League World Series booths never had an open controller. Kids couldn’t get enough of the game on the Wii. Jonathan said he was going to the store after his game to buy it for his house.
We had to play some Dizzy Disney at Disney since we were at a Dizzy Dean tournament. Kids had lots of fun spinning around and throwing balls at the target.
We gave away lots of cards at Topps Attax as well. The winners of our tournaments each walked away with brand new starter packs of cards.
Tomorrow we continue on to the 6U Dizzy Dean World Series so check back to baseballyouth.com and see how it goes.

July 20, 2009 - 6U Dizzy Dean World Series - Calhoun, Georgia : The Central Crew made the short drive from Ringgold to Calhoun, Georgia for the 6U Dizzy Dean World Series. The venue was different but the outcome was more of the same. There was nonstop action at all of our booths over the two day setup.
We had kids begging to play our New Era Hat trivia games. A few lucky players walked away with our custom Road trip hat.
At the MLBPA booth, Upper Deck and Topps cards were getting handed out like crazy. Kids had more cards than they could carry and having all those cards made it easy for them to find players needed to win even better prizes.
Topps Attax games were going nonstop. We had a few kids that were playing so well they decided to challenge me to a game. Of course, with my expertise, they couldn’t beat me!
The Louisville Slugger bats were also a big hit. Players, coaches, and parents could not walk by without stopping to check out the new line of bats. The six year olds were looking forward to getting a little older and getting a chance to use these bats instead of their smaller versions.
McKenzie was the star of the Little League World Series booths. She won the skills contest and took home her own Nintendo Wii game. She couldn’t stop telling her mom about how she had a new game to take home with her.

July 29, 2009 - Baseball Players Association World Series - Ownesboro, Kentucky : The Central Crew was treated to a great show at the opening ceremonies of the BPA World Series in Owensboro, Kentucky (the sports capital of Kentucky). They pulled out all the stops as the packed arena was rocking all night long. There were fireworks, confetti, and fog throughout the evening. It was a really exciting and fun evening and was no surprise that the fun continued the next day at Fisher Park for the World Series games.
Our booths were packed from the start. At the MLBPA booth everyone was hoping to hit the jackpot and win 20 packs of cards. We had tons of winners walk away with handfuls or cards and big smiles on their face. One young fan was even lucky enough to open up a Mickey Mantle.
At Little League World Series, games were getting hot and heavy. Our home run derby winner Toby won a new 2009 LLWS DS game. She was so excited about winning the game she ran all around the park holding up her new game.
At Topps Attax, everyone was anxious to win themselves a starter pack of cards.. We let lots of kids take a pack home to begin their collection and start forming their teams on Toppstown.com.
Kids were anxious to see how hard they could throw the wiffle ball through the Disney XD sign. I even got down in the catchers position and tried to catch some of the flamethrowers gas. One ball was thrown so hard it almost hit me in the face.
At New Era we played “Stump the Chump” where I asked very difficult baseball trivia questions. These players were so smart that they still were able to answer most of my questions and Elijah was able to win a Baseball Youth Road Trip ball cap.
The Slugger bats were once again very popular with the tournament players. They were looking for any added competitive advantage and the use of the new 2010 Slugger bats was exactly what they were looking for. The Tigers took one of each model and beat their opponent by 12 runs. You can draw your own conclusions.

The line was 15 deep!!! 10 mph wind made the game more challenging, and Brandon ended up the big winner. He took home a new XD Hat and a huge pile of cards!!! The Little League World Series tents continued to be a crowd favorite, and were swarmed with kids anxious to give the new 2009 game a try. We did a home run derby contest on the Wii, and Adam ended up hitting 8 home runs to win. He was the recipient of a brand new copy of LLWS 2009. The baseball youth tents were busy with kids of all ages, excited to spin the wheel and win some free stuff. Chase hit the jackpot, and won 30 packs of Topps cards!!!! The New Era tent had a lot of people checking out the new 5950 hats, and everyone was pumped to take home the 10% coupon. The Topps Attack tents had a big following as well, with kids eager to get their hands on a new pack of cards. After a round robin tournament, Shayne eliminated the competition and took home 5 starter packs!! Keep following the Central Tour, as our next stop is in nearby Nicholasville.

August 7, 2009 - Dixie Youth World Series - Laurel, Mississippi : The Central Crew made their way back to Mississippi, this time for the Dixie Youth World Series in the great town of Laurel. Day one consisted of opening ceremonies that took place at the local high school. There were musical performers and dancers, fireworks, and tons of kids checking out our fanfest. The Opening Ceremonies were just an appetizer for the next two days of fun.
Our booths were packed! We enjoyed handing out baseball cards and playing pack wars with the kids. At New Era, everyone wanted to buy a hat but we told them they’d have to use our coupon and buy online.
At Little League World Series, Jeff was a true pro. He was using power ups and hitting tons of home runs. He said he had already asked his mom to buy him the game later that night.
Dizzy Disney was awesome. Kids spun around until they fell over. Then they raced to find Zeke and Luther postcards. It was a great time.
The Slugger tent was crowded with coaches trying to get info on the new 2010 bat models. We let them use them on the field to get the best results possible.
The roadtrip is starting to wind down but there is still some fun on the way. Check back to baseballyouth.com for more action.

August 14, 2009 - Johnson City, Tennessee - High Heat Showdown : The Central Crew made their way to Johnson City, Tennessee for the High Heat Showdown and put on a great day of entertainment. People were very interested in all of the tents and cool items that we were handing out.
Fanfest participants walked away with hundreds of Disney XD stickers and eye black. Teams grabbed enough eye black to last them the rest of the summer and will proudly be wearing unstoppable stickers under their eyes.
At the Slugger booth coaches lined up to get their teams some of the new bats. Everyone wanted to figure out which was their favorite model. Franklin liked the H2 because of the new paint job.
At Topps Attax one young kid was so excited about the cards we gave him that he went to the store and bought special protective sleeves to drop his cards in. He could not get enough Topps Attax!
New Era continued to be eye catching with everyone coming over to point out their favorite hat in our collection. The Reds hat was most popular today.
Bucket after bucket of baseball cards were filled and then given out to everyone who wanted packs. We had pack war games and other trivia questions and the kids were having a great time all day.
We move on to Stanford, Kentucky tomorrow so come back and check out the action at baseballyouth.com

August 15, 2009 - Stanford, Kentucky - Super Series Back To School Bash : The Central Crew made the short drive to Stanford, Kentucky for another exciting day of baseball and fun. We got started off on the right foot with a huge crowd wanting to spin the wheel at the MLBPA booth. The line never died down and we were happily handing out prizes all day long.
At the Slugger booths people wanted to test out the new gloves and catchers gear. Everyone was impressed by how comfortable the gear was. They liked the gear so much they were asking where to get it.
At New Era, we played hours of trivia and kids won amazing prizes including hats and baseball cards.
Topps Attax had people curious about the new game and eager to give it a try. After a brief introduction and explanation of the rules, kids had hours of fun playing against one another.
Disney had a crowd all day too. People wanted to test their skills throwing the ball through the XD sign and playing pickle with the crew.

August 16, 2009 - Bearcat Brawl - Bowling Green, Kentucky : The Central Crew got to spend the day in Bowling Green Kentucky for the Bearcat Brawl and we think they should have changed the name to Bearcar Ball- to describe the ball of a time that the fans were having at our fanfest. It was out of control with everyone wanting to get in on the action. We played pickle at the Disney booth, trivia at New Era, and pack wars at MLBPA. If that wasn’t enough, kids were using our Slugger bats in their games and hitting bombs like you wouldn’t believe. Parents were running to the parking lot to move their cars out of harms way. We were lucky no balls hit our nice tv’s where kids were playing Little League World Series.
We go to Knoxville for our next stop so check out baseballyouth.com for more updates. See you on the field!
