The Tribe Called West traveled to Rockford, Illinois on Friday to catch the late afternoon start to the CABA Illinois State Championships. Although it was a slow start, kids of all ages were soon running to the games that the fan fest provided to collect Topps and Upper Deck baseball cards! At one point the entire Naperville Renegades squad stormed the bat rack to check out the hottest new 2010 Louisville Sluggers! The kids and parents were pleased to hear that the tour would stay in Rockford on Saturday as the West crew was just as eager to start the festivities bright and early the next morning.
Kids and players couldn’t wait for the fun to start Saturday morning as the West crew pulled up to the park. It didn’t take long for the lines to fill up for the Disney XD pitching chute or the Shock Doctor hitting game. Jeremy, age 5, threw 6 balls in a row at the chute while his brother, Jason, hit 4 homeruns on the day!
Despite showers at noon, the kids wouldn’t budge as the madness only grew! This was the last event hosted by Game Day USA for the West crew and it turned out to be a huge success. The Game Day USA crew was nothing but helpful for all of us, and we’re looking forward to working with them in the future.
The crew keeps rolling out West as they continue the tour Sunday in Rock Island, IL for the USSSA 2009 Redbirds Classic NIT! Make sure you check out
