There is nothing like some good old southern hospitality. As soon as we arrived in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia for the Pre-District All-Start Tournament, we were treated like royalty.
The guys running the tournament and all the kids were so happy for us to be there it just added to all the fun we had.
We were bombarded with kids wanting to get their hands on some great stuff. We gave out so many awesome prizes we made sure everyone got a Disney Channel bag to carry everything in. The Airheads tent was the place to be as kids spun the wheel to win some t-shirts and delicious candy. With their bellies full of flavor, nothing settled their stomachs more than some awesome baseball cards from Topps and Upper Deck.
Our main man Andy got the chance to take on the kids in some classic Backyard Baseball games, while Mike and Ian played catch with the teams and the new Louisville Slugger gloves. Mike’s nasty knuckle ball proved too hard for the kids and even me to catch, we are pretty sure he taught Boston’s Tim Wakefield how to throw.
There was nothing but please and thank you out of these great kids mouth. What a great time we had in this small town of Georgia, they sure know how to represent the game of baseball. We are headed to Southaven, Mississippi now, just another stop for the East Coast Crew on the Baseball Youth Road Trip 2008.
